Nutrition experts can provide nutritional counseling, meal planning, and nutrition education programs.

Nutritionist vs Dietitian

In many countries, a person can claim to be a nutritionist even without any training, education, or professional license.

However, many reputed and internationally accepted universities and education institutes provide certification courses. ๐Ÿ…

But a dietitian, specifically registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) has a university degree, professional license, and certification for professional practice. [1]

RD or RDN is used after one’s name by licensed experts.

Summary: Every dietitian is a nutritionist but not every nutritionist is a dietitian. 

Nutrition experts also have sub-specialties like doctors.

Community Nutrition Experts: Community nutrition experts work in health clinics and recreational centers, local, state, and federal government agency programs, and health maintenance organizations (HMOs).

They often work with specific subgroups like children, the elderly, at-risk families to address specific nutritional issues.

In other words, they deal with public health.

For example, community nutrition experts explain, educate and make plans to implement countries official dietary guidelines.

Industry Nutrition Experts: They often advise on innovation of new products and on social media marketing related to food products.
